Video Library
Baobab LMS is a completely new approach to micro-learning. It is all video-based and covers concepts and applications in commercial software such as Petex IPM and KAPPA workstation. This unique method allows effective learning for Petroleum Engineering wherever and whenever you need it, i.e. performance support or help at the moment of need.
In this ”Video Library” section, information is presented in the form of a searchable, digital library (or knowledge base) – informal learning, available 24/7 on any device.
Whether you’re an experienced professional or just starting out, good training is vital to your success – but how much will you remember of that one-off training course? How up to date is the information you search for online? With Baobab, there’s another way to learn.
Well Performance
Well performance includes a review of the core components of pressure loss in the well system (reservoir, wellbore and surface flowlines) and how these can be combined to predict well flowrates (nodal analysis). We also look at how artificial lift can increase production rates and examine in detail the major methods used (gas lift, ESPs, PCPs, HSPs, sucker rod pumps and jet pumps). To show these concepts in practice, we review well modelling (or nodal analysis) applications with commercial software including the design and diagnosis of artificial lift systems.
Pressure loss in the reservoir (inflow performance)
An overview of inflow performance fundamentals and applications (PI, Darcy, Vogel, skin).
Pressure loss in the wellbore (outflow performance)
Outflow performance fundamentals including the components of wellbore pressure loss, the effect of slip and holdup and the use of correlations. An overview of the pressure loss in pipelines and surface chokes.
Well performance prediction (nodal analysis)
Combining inflow and outflow performance to predict well performance.
Artificial lift overview
An overview of the history, classification and the main artificial lift methods.
Gas lift systems
Gas lift key concepts, design, equipment and operation, valve calculations and troubleshooting.
ESP systems
ESP key concepts and performance fundamentals, equipment, design, operation and diagnosis. ESP control and runlife optimisation.
PCP systems
An overview of PCP systems key concepts, performance, operation and design.
Artificial lift in unconventional reservoirs
An overview of unconventional reservoir characteristics and how these affect artificial lift selection and operation.
Well modelling applications (Prosper)
Building and matching a well model, running sensitivities on inflow and outflow parameters, gas lift, ESP and PCP design and generation of lift curves (VLPs).
